God’s Plan

John 11:45-57

Pastor Jonathan Kiel | 04.05.2020

Welcome to Christ Church at home. As we come into God’s presence together this morning, we come as a people scattered throughout the county worshiping in our homes. A special welcome to you if you are visiting Christ Church for the first time. We are glad you are here.

Call to Worship

Read Psalm Zechariah 9:9 aloud

L: Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion!

A: Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem!

L: Lo, your king comes to you;

A: triumphant and victorious is he,

L: humble and riding on a donkey,

A: on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Rejoice the Lord is King

Confession

Read this Palm Sunday Confession aloud

O King of Glory,

we confess that our praise of your majesty has often been faint,

our performance as citizens of your kingdom treasonous.

For we have surrendered to the enemy

by our secret and our known sins.

For our treason you died, Lord Jesus.

For our restoration, you rose again.

Draw us closer to you in this holy week,

that our eyes may catch the vision of your tears,

and our hearts, the wonder of your grace.

By the Holy Spirit’s continuing discipline,

let us be loyal and loving servants of the King.

Praise be to you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Silent Confession

Be careful not to rush the silence, take your time.

Pardon

Read Psalm 118:4–5, 14, 17 aloud

Let those who fear the Lord say, “His steadfast love endures forever.”

Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.

The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.

I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord.

What Wondrous Love is This

Sermon

Children, remember to take your notes, Pastor Jonathan wants to see them!

Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead and buried;
he descended into the grave;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers for the Church and World

As we come to a time of prayer this morning, we come as a people who are seeking the Lord and then waiting on him to act. Prayer is learning to trust and wait on the Lord. As we come into prayer this morning sing this short song which was written based on Psalm 37.

Before you spend time praying this morning we have an update from one of our missionaries, Timur Anickin, who is a pastor in Latvia followed by Meagan Wynne leading us into our time of prayer this morning.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory forever.

Amen.
