Grief

John 11:28–37

Pastor Nate Walker | 03.22.2020

Welcome to Christ Church at home. As we come into God’s presence together this morning, we come as a people scattered throughout the county worshiping in our homes. Even still we are one people, worshiping the one true God. As you work through this liturgy at home, take your time with it. Read through the texts slowly, sing the songs and spend time in prayer, so that the of God may dwell richly within you. Let us worship the Lord together.

Call to Worship

Read Psalm 23 Aloud

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Immortal Invisible

Confession

Read Psalm 51:1a, 10–12 Aloud

Have mercy on me, O God

Create in me a clean heart, O God,

and renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from your presence,

and take not your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of your salvation,

and uphold me with a willing spirit.

Silent Confession

Be careful not to rush the silence, take your time.

Pardon

Read 1 Corinthians 5:17–18a Aloud

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself

Rock of Ages

Sermon

Children, remember to take your notes, Pastor Nate wants to see them!

Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead and buried;
he descended into the grave;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers for the Church and World

As we come to a time of prayer this morning, we come as a people who are seeking the Lord and then waiting on him to act. Prayer is learning to trust and wait on the Lord. As we come into prayer this morning sing this short song which was written based on Psalm 37.

Here are a couple of prayer prompts to help you pray this morning.

Prayers for the Church:

Pray for CCB member Autumn Greenleaf. Pray that the Lord would show her how she can serve him in her new phase of life. Also, prayer that she would be fully recovered from her accident by the one-year anniversary date of Mar 15th.

Prayers for the World:

Special video update from the Robbins family.

If you would like the elders to pray for you, please send your prayer request here:

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory forever.

Amen.

Offering

We are still taking offerings online.
If you prefer to write a check you can still mail it to our church address, but at this time online giving is preferred.

We need your generosity now more than ever with many opportunities to serve our neighbors during this time.

Doxology

Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;

Praise him above, ye heav’nly host:
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Amen, Amen.

Sending

The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
